WaveFarer Radar Analysis with Diffuse Scattering and Backscatter Through Walls

The latest release of WaveFarer provides a number of new features to improve its support for automotive and indoor radar applications.  New diffuse scattering algorithms capture the backscatter from rough surfaces, such as roads, terrain, and building materials.  This combines with detailed backscatter from target objects to provide a more accurate prediction of the radar returns from a complex scene.

This release also adds the ability to transmit through walls, windows, or other materials, supporting indoor sensor applications where waves can penetrate through walls into neighboring rooms or capture interactions with the interior structures of a vehicle.

In this webinar, Remcom presents these and other new capabilities and demonstrates their use within a sample drive scenario as well as an indoor mmWave sensor scenario.  Scripting utilities for range-Doppler simulation and analysis, also new in this release, are used to set up simulations and evaluate the effects of these new features on range-Doppler for a series of cases.

Key Take-Aways:

  • Learn how WaveFarer’s new diffuse scattering capability adds key effects to improve accuracy for radar analysis.

  • Analyze backscatter in an indoor scenario, where waves diffract through doorways and penetrate walls.

  • Simplify simulation setup and post-processing for range-Doppler analyses using new utilities.

  • Learn about other key enhancements for materials that expand the range of supported material properties and simplify their use over broad frequency ranges.
